From the majestic Kanchenjunga—the third highest mountain in the world—to the tranquil lakes like Tsomgo and Gurudongmar, Sikkim offers a perfect blend of adventure and peace. Its rich biodiversity, including vibrant rhododendron forests and exotic wildlife, makes it a paradise for nature lovers and trekkers alike.
Beyond its landscapes, Sikkim charms visitors with its unique culture and spirituality. The state is dotted with ancient monasteries like Rumtek and Pemayangtse, offering glimpses into Tibetan Buddhism. Its capital, Gangtok, combines modernity with tradition, offering everything from bustling local markets to peaceful viewpoints. Day 1: Arrive at Bagdogra and drive to Gangtok

Day 11. Darjeeling to Bagdogra
You will be received at Bagdogra airport. Then drive to Gangtok which takes around 4–5 hours, winding through lush tea gardens, forested hills, and alongside the Teesta River. The journey is both scenic and thrilling, with curving mountain roads. Frequent glimpses of terraced fields and distant snow-capped peaks.
Use this day to visit Tashi View Point, Ganesh Tok, and Hanuman Tok. You can explore the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, Do Drul Chorten Stupa, and Flower Exhibition Centre to experience the city’s cultural and spiritual essence. A stroll through MG Marg, Gangtok’s vibrant pedestrian street lined with cafes, shops, and local eateries.
The drive to Nathula Passes through Kyongnosla Waterfalls and Tsomgo Lake, where you can enjoy a yak ride and mountain views. At Nathula Pass at 14,140 ft, visit the Indo-China border and nearby Old Baba Mandir, a revered military shrine. Thereafter descend to via the winding roads of the famous zuluk loops. Night stay at Zuluk village.
From Zuluk, descend through the high-altitude loops of Zuluk through lush forests and quiet mountain villages. You'll pass through Aritar, known for its serene lake and monastery, then continue to Rangpo, the border town where you re-enter Sikkim’s main highway network and continue to Gangtok.
The drive from Gangtok to Lachung winds through lush valleys and mountain roads. The route passes through places like Mangan and Chungthang, with highlights including the Theng Tunnel and dense forested stretches. The final ascent to Lachung, a quiet village at 9,600 feet, is scenic but challenging, offering views of rivers, waterfalls, and deep gorges.
The drive from Lachung to Yumthang Valley offers breathtaking views of alpine meadows, rhododendron forests, and snow-capped peaks. From Yumthang, a further ascent leads to Zero Point Katao region, where the road ends amid snowfields and dramatic Himalayan scenery near the Indo-China border. We will get back to Lachung by evening.
We will take the same route as on day 5 to get back to Gangtok. We get an opportunity to spend more time on the scenic delights along this route.
You'll start on winding highways through Singtam, Tarku, Namchi or Ravangla, and descend gradually into West Sikkim, reaching the scenic town of Pelling nestled at about 6000 ft altitude. Early morning Pelling offers a grand view of Mount Kanchenjunga.
The route through South Sikkim, passes through small towns like Geyzing and Jorethang alongside the scenic Rangeet River before entering West Bengal. The approach to Darjeeling ascends via the Hill Cart Road and the iconic Batasia Loop, offering multiple viewpoints of Mount Kanchenjunga.
Darjeeling sightseeing includes a visit to the famous Tiger Hill at sunrise for breathtaking views of Mount Kanchenjunga and, on clear days, even Mount Everest. Other highlights are the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (Toy Train), Batasia Loop, Peace Pagoda, and the lush Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park.
The drive from Darjeeling to Bagdogra takes about 3 to 3.5 hours, descending through winding mountain roads, lush tea gardens, and scenic viewpoints. The route typically passes via Kurseong or Mirik, eventually reaching Bagdogra Airport, where you could take your day flight out to your city.
